This is the last of several pieces I made from a massive cherry log I found along the side of the road. It was sopping wet and extremely heavy. I had to use two 2x6’s as a ramp to roll it into my pickup. I wasn’t even sure what kind of wood it was until I put my chain saw to it. The bark and rotted sap wood pealed away to reveal very dense, blood red heart wood. It was a joy to work.
