White Oak
(blackened)
11” x 2¾”
No Finish
This piece was created from a large plank cut-off given to me by a friend. It was completely dry and had a rather large knot and crack in it. After turning and sanding, I took a wire brush to it and coated it with a strained rusty solution of steel wool dissolved in equal parts water and white vinegar. After it dried, I buffed it with a course abrasive pad to knock off the fuzz of the raised grain and blew it off with compressed air. I liked the dull rustic look of the piece, so I decided not to add a top coat and just leave the wood raw.
